Local Observing Sessions

Does the society arrange any group observing sessions? I'm limited to North and South viewing from my garden since I've got my house to the east and a 3 storey terrace to the west.

I'd like to go somewhere else but I'm not sure that I'd feel safe alone in some remote area up Rivington or somewhere like that. Since I've only had my telescope for a month, it would also be good to learn more about polar alignment and using the setting circles on my mount.

I realise that such things could only be arranged at very short notice.

I'm in Walton-le-Dale, just south of the Ribble near Preston.

PS. I've a question for you in the Astrophotography section.

It is something we have considered and continue to do so. And we are open to suggestions.

We do attend a star Party in Kelling Heath and the society has three pitches booked this year. Spaces are available. If you have a tent and don't mind the whirring of a Meade LX200 at 3am in the morning from the opposite pitch its the place to be.

It has dark skies and lots of helpful people. We usually take different scopes and help each other out. If you have look at the gallery you'll see some past pictures.

Worth thinking about! :D
