Comet 260P/McNaught

Post by rwilkinson » Wed Oct 02, 2019 11:36 am

Another night, another comet!
This one was discovered in 2005 by prolific comet-spotter Rob McNaught (see my article in this month's Bolton Astronomer).
Last month I caught it close to C/2018 N2 in Aries, but now it's moved into Perseus, where it will remain for a few weeks.

At last night's Workshop meeting we were speculating if the sky would clear later - well it did, and by then I could see that Algol had cleared the tree-line, so I set up for half an hour's imaging:

Comet 260P on 1-Oct. 31x 60-sec with Mx716 on C8 at f/3.5.
