Re: Finally got a Toucam

Dean,
You can get usb extension leads. If you only need a metre or so then a non-active one will probably be OK. The active ones are more expensive but give you 5 metres.

Re: Vega Webcam software

Dave,
Never tried vega - I would recommend IRIS:

It does much much more than just capture webcam videos - in fact it does virtually everything!

Re: Help with collimation of SW 150P reflector

Ian,
I am in all day Monday waiting for DHL to collect my failed observatory PC so if you can pop over then I can have a look - something sounds loose if it changing collimation that easily.
If you email me: davidr AT deep-sky.co.uk I will send my address.

Thi...

Windows 7 – Astronomical Software Compatibility

I installed the 32-bit version. Most of the programs required running as administrator – fairly easy in 7 as y...

Re: Imaging the moon ........ Help!!

Dean, To get detail on the Moon you really need to use a telescope (prime focus). With 35mm film a focal length of around 1250 to 2000mm will give a good scale. A zoom lens will not reach that nor deliver the quality - which it what you seem to be finding. A moon filter will only make it worse as th...
