Volunteer Wanted

The calendar of events for next six months has been uploaded. However we are looking for a volunteer to collate 3D images from the NASA website and present them to members on the 5th August. The society will provide the 3D glasses along with the projector and a laptop to present from. It's a good op...

Re: 4th March 2014 -- Sharples School

Thanks as well too Sharples Schools for hosting us and the lads who helped carry equipment between the car park and the playground. To Mukesh and Bill Bones for arranging the evening. Eyepiece Suggestion

Last evening I enjoyed viewing Jupiter with a 10mm eyepiece that I got with my sky watcher but I felt the the viewing could of been improved with a better eyepiece. So I was wondering does have anyone have any suggestions on a particular type or brand of eyepiece. I was thinking between 8 - 12mm, bu...

Re: question

Focal reducers do make a difference but if you've not done so already you could also take look at using the Field Of View calculator which would give you a rough indication of what you could see. The drop down menu Barlow/FR: is where the barlow and focal reducers are located. http://www.12dstring.m...

Re: Help

I'm assuming your struggling to access the Gallery in which case it might be easier to select I forgot my password located under the login box. Then type in your email address. Admittedly it is hard to see at first glance

Re: Orion mini Autoguider package

I didn't purchase the entire package but I did buy the QHY5 II camera and mounted (or had Brian W. do the work) onto the back of a small refractor. The camera is fairly straight forward to set up but where most people go wrong is they don't crank the gain to 100% when using the guiding software. But...
